Batik is a kind of fabric that use hand painted technique as its motive. Some of batiks use cap as motive. In its making process, it use wax as media. Natural materials such as cotton or silk are used for the cloth, so that it can absorb the wax that is applied in the dye resisting process. In Wikipedia is written that: contemporary batik, while owing much to the past, is markedly different from the more traditional and formal styles. For example, the artist may use etching, discharge dyeing, stencils, different tools for waxing and dyeing, wax recipes with different resist values and work with silk, cotton, wool, leather, paper or even wood and ceramics.

Have ever think of using straw as accent for your goods? Let us try to learn this craft project. This craft project may also be explained to your children or your students as kids crafts. Straw or dried rice stalks are natural object that can be used to make artistic accent to your goods. It can be the used can, the frame or other goods.
The method of this kind of kids crafts is enough simple but has the good and artistic result.
First, take some straws that have the good shape. Choose the intact and dry straw, don’t take the break or wet one. So your straw natural accent will has good result. Open the straw stalks become sheets. You can use the cutter or small scissor for it. Now your straws have more wide surface than before. Then prepare a sheet of HVS paper and smear that paper with glue. Then take your straw sheets one by one to be sticked at that HVS paper. This way will make your job easier before finally sticking that HVS paper to the frame or used can surface.
Add some other ornaments like dry flowers to the tin.

We need the round wood (for head), color jute sack (here with red color), jute rope, small batik cloth or other ethnic motive cloth, eye bead, varnish, dried flower, color thread (here use the purple color), a small triangle stem for the nose and of course, glue.

Came from South African, Eichornia crassipes is introduced to the tropical area as decorated plant. Lately this kind of plant becomes pollutant for the river because its fast and spread growth. But finally people use this plant for potential craft material that can be used to make many craft goods. Here is a short view of this plant processing.

The stem of banana tree can be nice craft material. This post is to give the short summary about the banana stem processing that start from the raw material become ready to use material for craft project.
After preparing the banana stem, the first step is put it in the sun for 1-3 days so the banana stem is really dry. Then soak the banana stems into water that added with a little citroenzuur for 2 hours. Keep turning the banana stem so the color will be mixed (this is the bleaching process). The next process is releasing the inside and outside part of banana stem. Then put the inside and outside layer of banana stem into the container to washing it. Then put again the banana stem under the sun. Before using it, leave the banana stems for a night.
