Furniture Craft: Antique Furniture with Rastik Finishing

We can get antique furniture accent on our old furniture with this craft project. Rastik finishing is a kind of finishing that produce coarse appearance. The example is the peeled paintings. This accent exactly often used to beautify the furniture appearance. This kind of furniture is suitable with a home with country style.

In order to make the paint easy to stick, clean up the furniture with sandpaper and clean cloth. Then smear the white duco paint at all the furniture surface. After it has dried, smear it with other color paint. Leave it for 2 hours for drying.

Smear the petroleum jelly using clean cloth to furniture surface. Leave it dry. Then smear again the other color of paint, choose the contrast color with above base color. Let the paint really dry.

Use sandpaper slowly to get the peeled paint accent. Remember to not smear the sandpaper to all applied paint.

Seek the drawing pattern you like, copy to the furniture. Give color to that picture using wood paint. We’ll find that petroleum jelly that covered this furniture will make the wood paint isn’t well absorbed. This way produces the faded color that match with this antique furniture that also has faded color. Let the wood paint dry.

Last, cover the furniture surface with petroleum jelly again. Smear it twice. Wait until dry before give the coating above it.
