[Flower Preservation] Get the Dried Flower using Preservative Solution
Preservative solution will produce dried flower that has color and softness like fresh flower. You also can give the other color as you want. This preservative solution usually is safe for environment. Try this flower preservation method.
Drying technique
The plant that will be dried must be processed at the latest 4 hours after picked. In this process, there are 3 phases that should be done.
- Holding (preservation solution absorption).
Cut your flower stem about 4 cm to throw away the air bubble that can impede preservation solution absorption. For the holding process you can mix the preservation solution and distillation water with ratio 1 : 3. Enter the stem tip in warm preservation solution until you get the color that you want (usually take about 3-4 days).
- Drying.
After holding process, we can dry up the plant. The flower with close petals like rose, it is better to use oven at 50 – 60°C for about hours. The flower is hung upside down in the oven. Drying also can be done with putting it in a windy place for about 1-2 weeks. - Color and texture stabilization.
After dry, hang it in upside down in a cool room with 20-25°C temperature for 1-2 days, so the dry plant will absorb little humidity from environment so the craft material will be soft, strong and will not break easily.
